The fine print
Privacy, Terms and Waivers
Written in plain English, because you should be able to understand what you are agreeing to before you drive four hours to a creek.
Who we are
Rhythm & Hunt is the registered business name of an Australian sole trader based in Queensland, Australia. ABN 23 176 261 410. You can reach us any time via our contact page.
Privacy
We collect only what we need to run safe adventures: your name and contact details, emergency contact, dietary requirements, and any accessibility or support information you choose to share. Medical, dietary and accessibility details are visible only to the team running your event.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with landholders or partners beyond the participant numbers and safety information an event requires. You can ask us to correct or delete your details at any time.
Event terms
Registration is confirmed when you appear on the participant list and we have your waiver. Places are limited and allocated in order. Where an event is full, we keep a waiting list and contact people in order as places open.
Cancellations, changes and refunds are set per event and stated on the event page. If we cancel an adventure for weather, safety, landholder or access reasons, you receive a full refund or transfer to another date — your choice.
Some activities require a fossicking or prospecting licence or permit. Every country — and every state within a country — has its own rules, so the event page says what applies, links to the issuing authority, and you can ask us for help obtaining one. It remains your responsibility to hold a valid licence on the day.
Participation waiver
Outdoor adventure involves risk: uneven ground, water, tools, wildlife, weather and remoteness. Before each event you complete a waiver acknowledging those risks, confirming you have told us about relevant medical, mobility or dietary needs, and agreeing to follow team instructions and landholder rules on site.
Signing a waiver does not remove our obligations. We plan, brief, carry first aid and manage safety on every adventure.
Going global, honestly
Explorers join us from all over the world, so here's how the law shakes out: Rhythm & Hunt is based in Queensland, Australia, and events you book with us are governed by the law that applies where the event happens. Consumer rights work the same way — the law of your own country protects you, and nothing in these terms limits those rights.
Waivers and safety rules are written for each adventure, and where a country's rules differ, the version shown when you register is the one that counts. International travel is its own adventure: check your government's travel advice before any trip — we share official advice links on our licence guide, but we don't monitor every country's safety situation for you.
Terms of sale
Rhythm and Hunt · ABN 23 176 261 410 is not currently registered for Australian GST, so we do not charge Australian GST or describe our receipts as Australian tax invoices. Prices include applicable taxes where legally required; any tax collected is shown before payment. Our payment connection can calculate and collect tax for confirmed registrations; Rhythm and Hunt remains responsible for registration, filing and remittance. Overseas VAT, GST and sales-tax rules differ for digital access, memberships, advertising and physical goods.
For international parcels, unless checkout expressly says otherwise, the recipient is the importer of record and may need to pay local import duties, import taxes and carrier clearance fees. These are separate from our prices and postage, and vary by destination. A membership surprise is not automatically exempt from customs: customs declarations must accurately describe the contents and value. Shipping destinations and charges must be confirmed before an order is accepted. Your mandatory consumer rights are unaffected.
Prices are in Australian dollars. Kits, apparel and shop orders ship from Australia; the delivery time shown at checkout is our best honest estimate, not a promise. Ordering from outside Australia? Check that delivery is available to your destination; we can't promise it beats the end-of-year festivities — the posties are overworked. Postage is calculated at checkout and shown before you pay.
Paid showcases
Ordinary Trade Post listings remain free. Trade Post spotlights cost $5 AUD for 7 days or $12 AUD for 30 days; business showcases cost $35 AUD for 30 days. These totals include applicable tax and our payment costs. Each photo, blurb and link needs team approval before payment. The display period starts when the paid placement becomes active, not when requested. Placements are labelled sponsored and rotated fairly; we do not promise views or sales and there is no automatic renewal. Payment is for promotion only, not the item or service advertised. Contact us about changes, withdrawal or refunds; statutory consumer remedies remain available.
Every kit carries Buckey. Your Buckey may not look exactly like the picture — we're still testing prototypes. Each initial kit is planned around the same starter essentials, with better-quality versions at higher levels. Future Buckey additions are occasional membership surprises, not missing kit contents or guaranteed deliveries.
If something arrives damaged or not as described, get in touch within 30 days and we'll make it right — replacement, repair or refund. Australian consumer law gives you guarantees on everything we sell, and nothing here takes those away. Memberships renew automatically and you can cancel any time; cancellation takes effect straight away, so perks tied to an active membership finish with it.
Our community standards
- Mutual respect. No ragging on anyone, bullying, harassment or discrimination.
- Respect other explorers, landholders, First Nations peoples and the places we visit.
- Follow Rhythm & Hunt rules, safety instructions, landholder conditions, fossicking licences and local laws.
- These standards apply online, in the field and anywhere you represent Rhythm & Hunt.
New explorers agree to these standards when joining. Bobby may suspend access, close an account or permanently remove an explorer for breaching these standards. The explorer receives an email explaining the reason. Necessary purchase and financial records are retained, and consumer rights are unchanged.
Conduct on country
Fill your holes. Shut the gates. Stay off crops and away from stock. Carry out everything you carry in, and a bit more. Treat other explorers, landholders and communities with respect. We will ask anyone who does not to leave.
